Abass is 10 years old and lives with his family in Iraq. Instead of sending him to school, his family sent him to work collecting soda cans from the garbage because they were in need of financial support. Abass dreams of being a police officer when he grows up but this seemed far-fetched only a short while ago. Thankfully, caring adults in Abass’ Iraqi community reached out to him to put him on a path to reach his dreams. With the help of your sponsorship, these individuals are giving him a safe environment where he can learn, develop, and receive social, health, and nutritional care.
The mission of the Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life-changing “Surge of Love” for millions of children orphaned by violence in Iraq. They are committed to doing this under the leadership of the Iraqi people by serving as a catalyst to mobilize U.S. and international partners; investing in training and capacity building of Iraq’s non-governmental and community organizations; and emphasizing direct assistance for hand up, not hand out, projects.
With your help, Pratheek, Bo, Microsoft, The Meribeth, F, and Cathy, children like Abass can reclaim their childhood.
