Kadhem is 11 years old and lives with his family in a destroyed building that offers little protection from the summer heat or winter cold. He worked collecting cans from garbage dumps to help his family survive. He left school before his third year but longs to go back to school and to one day become a police officer and help people. Caring adults in Kadhem’s Iraqi community reached out to him and gave him an opportunity to recover his childhood. Today, with the help of your sponsorship, he enjoys playing and is getting an education, health care, nutrition, and other social care.
The mission of the Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life-changing “Surge of Love” for millions of children orphaned by violence in Iraq. They are committed to doing this under the leadership of the Iraqi people by serving as a catalyst to mobilize U.S. and international partners; investing in training and capacity building of Iraq’s non-governmental and community organizations; and emphasizing direct assistance for hand up, not hand out, projects.
With your help, Steve, children like Kadhem can reclaim their childhood.
