Nine year-old Duaa lives with her sisters and mother in a room made of metal cans in Iraq. She went to work with her mother on the streets selling candy so they could scrape together a living. Duaa suffered from hunger, deprivation, and other hardships in her young life, leaving her with feelings of deep sadness and a loss of a normal childhood. Caring adults in her Iraqi community reached out to her to give her back her childhood. With the help of your sponsorship, they are providing her with a space where she can play, be happy, and enjoy her right to an education as well as social, health, and nutritional care.
The mission of the Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life-changing “Surge of Love” for millions of children orphaned by violence in Iraq. They are committed to doing this under the leadership of the Iraqi people by serving as a catalyst to mobilize U.S. and international partners; investing in training and capacity building of Iraq’s non-governmental and community organizations; and emphasizing direct assistance for hand up, not hand out, projects.
With your help, Mais, Mohammed, and Anonymous, children like Duaa can reclaim their childhood.
