Siba rediscovered
posted June 10, 2013
Siba is only seven years old — she lives with her family in a desperately poor area in a single room made of cans and mud. Because her father is sick and jobless, Siba’s mother collects soda cans for a living. Siba was not receiving proper care and was not going to school. She suffered from neglect and lack of nutrition, health care, and personal hygiene. When she was discovered by caring adults in her Iraqi community, they reached out to her, and with support from your generous sponsorship, she is rediscovering her lost childhood and receiving tutoring, healthy meals, emotional and social support and health care.
The mission of the Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life-changing “Surge of Love” for millions of children orphaned by violence in Iraq. They are committed to doing this under the leadership of the Iraqi people by serving as a catalyst to mobilize U.S. and international partners; investing in training and capacity building of Iraq’s non-governmental and community organizations; and emphasizing direct assistance for hand up, not hand out, projects.
Thank you all for supporting Siba and the Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation.
