Community steps up to support selfless, hardworking child

SICF Holiday Campaign 2012 Dhiaa
Dear a, Harun, Hadi, Salam, Shauna, Scott and Carrie, Jenn, and Dave,

Thank you all for supporting Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation! Your generosity helps Dhiaa, who is seven years old and lives with his family in a small room in a destroyed building. His father is disabled so Dhiaa and his two brothers have to help make a living for the family by collecting soda cans from the garbage. He had never attended school or gotten a toy — all he knew in his life was working long hours in the streets. Today, with the help of your sponsorship, caring adults in his Iraqi community have reached out to Dhiaa to give him the chance to spend his childhood receiving an education, nutrition, and social and health care.

The mission of the Sponsor Iraqi Children Foundation is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life-changing “Surge of Love” for millions of children orphaned by violence in Iraq. They are committed to doing this under the leadership of the Iraqi people by serving as a catalyst to mobilize U.S. and international partners; investing in training and capacity building of Iraq’s non-governmental and community organizations; and emphasizing direct assistance for hand up, not hand out, projects.

With your help, children like Dhiaa can reclaim their childhood.
